Interesting Story of the Cover Art

I have a print of a train under water, on the back of the print a note from the artist reads, Night Probe 4/50, however we all know its the cover of Isaac Bell Detective Series "The Chase" on further investigation, the artist Maurizio Manzieri submitted the art to Putnam, an interesting fact here is, prior to The Chase it was used on the Italian cover of Night Probe (Salto Nel Buio). The difference between the two pictures, the underwater colors are the same, but the locomotive has changed, morphing from the Manhattan Limited (Night Probe) to a Pacific Type Locomotive (1905)
